The work under this Contract generally consists of the Asphalt Resurfacing of Lorne Avenue East from Home Street to Romeo Street South (with Downie St approaches) and Ontario Street from the City Limits to Gordon Street. The Asphalt Resurfacing activities primarily relate to the rehabilitation of the roadway by milling partial or full depth existing asphalt and replacing with a new base and surface asphalt layers, installing gravel shoulders, installing pavement markings and adjusting structures as needed. The Contractor will not be allowed to close any street without the express written consent of the City. The Contractor will be required to maintain traffic for the entirety of the project. Where movement of traffic must be restricted to one lane during construction, the Contractor shall supply, erect, and maintain all necessary warning signs, delineator hazard marker, and competent flagmen to ensure that traffic can be maintained with safety and minimum disruption. Lorne Avenue East will require one lane (alternating one-way traffic) to remain open for traffic, and Ontario Street will require a minimum of two lanes (one lane each way) to remain open for traffic. The contractor must maintain all traffic operations within the signalized intersection and will not be allowed to close the intersections while performing any work.
