The Project consists of: A. Accessibility: 1) Addition of an elevator on the exterior of the two-story Administration Building (Bldg. 1500) which will be seismically separated from the existing building. 2) Addition of ramp to the west end to access the porch and a second ramp to access the finish floor elevation. 3) Addition of interior ramp and stair at the Meeting Room. 4) Provide accessible restrooms and single-occupant Staff Toilets. B. Building Systems: 1) Remove existing furnace, fan, and ductwork in the Basement. 2) Replace the existing forced air heating and ventilating system with a new variable refrigerant flow system. 3) Provide a central fresh air system to service all units. 4) Replace partial existing fire sprinkler system with new fully automatic fire sprinkler system throughout. 5) Provide new fire alarm system. 6) Provide additional power receptacles to most rooms. 7) Provide new lighting system in lay-in ceilings except in classrooms and Meeting Room. C. Architectural: 1) Paint interior. 2) Replace all existing flooring. 3) Refinish, patch, and clean the historic Meeting Room to mimic the original architectural style (not a historically accurate restoration). 4) Adjust room layouts. D. Site Improvements: 1) Create a new large terrace on north side of the Building. 2) Sitework is limited to the installation of the terrace which will encroach into an existing grass area. An existing asphalt concrete paving patch and shrubbery will need to be removed. A bid bond by an admitted surety insurer on the form provided by the District a cashier's check or a certified check, drawn to the order of the Palo Alto Unified School District, in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total bid price, shall accompany the Bid Form and Proposal, as a guarantee that the Bidder will, within seven (7) calendar days after the date of the Notice of Award, enter into a contract with the District for the performance of the services as stipulated in the bid. The successful Bidder shall be required to furnish a 100% Performance Bond and a 100% Payment Bond if it is awarded the Contract for the Work. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids and/or waive any irregularity in any bid received. If the District awards the Contract, the security of unsuccessful bidder(s) shall be returned within sixty (60) days from the time the award is made. Unless otherwise required by law, no bidder may withdraw its bid for ninety (90) days after the date of the bid opening.
