The Summer Village of Sunset Point together with Lac Ste. Anne County, the Town of Onoway, Village of Alberta Beach and the Summer Villages of Val Quentin and West Cove (project partners) are inviting proposals from qualified and experienced consultants to develop the Lac Ste. Anne Regional Trails Master Plan (the Plan) for the Interlake Region. The project partners recognize the value of trails to the quality of life and well being of residents. Project partners also recognize the potential for trails to grow and diversify the region's economy, while supporting provincial tourism goals, and would like the plan to lay the groundwork for improving its trail tourism readiness and becoming a trails destination. The Plan is focused on "off-street" trails on municipal lands as well as Crown Lands including summer, winter, all-season, mixed-use, motorized, non-motorized and activity optimized trails. Planning for sidewalks and on-street active transportation corridors are not part of the scope of this project. Developed collaboratively with the project partners and local stakeholders, this non-statutory strategic plan will provide intermunicipal direction on the future trail system including new trails and trail enhancements, policies, priorities, standards and prioritized strategies and actions. The Plan should equip project partners and stakeholders with the shared direction necessary to expand, connect, enhance, and diversify the existing trail system to meet the current and future needs of residents and to grow trail-based tourism. The planning process should promote intermunicipal collaboration and cooperation between project partners and trail stakeholders. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this time.
