The consultant construction inspector will serve as a City representative on construction projects assigned on an as-needed basis and will work closely with and under the direction of the Aviation Construction Inspection Supervisor or a designated Project Manager of the Aviation Department Design and Construction Services Division. Work will be landside and airside. Security clearance, as set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and insurance coverage for general liability of not less than $5,000,000 per occurrence will be required. The City may provide office or cubicle space at a City facility or construction site trailer, two-way radio, and City issued laptop computer. The preferred consultant firms shall have experience in an active airport operations area. Various Aviation Department projects that are ongoing or scheduled for construction at or near the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Phoenix Goodyear Airport or Phoenix Deer Valley Airport could be assigned. Work will be performed at airport terminals, concourses, fire stations, maintenance facilities, police facilities and other support structures. Anticipated airport inspection assignments may include, but are not limited to the following types of work: Inspections and monitoring for compliance with the City of Phoenix building codes to include: civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and fire protection.
Inspections and monitoring for compliance for airport roadways, waterlines, sewer lines, mechanical equipment, electrical lines & equipment, roadway bridges, runways, taxiways, airfield lighting, aprons, taxiway bridges, and Sky Train fixed facilities, guideway, power, and running surfaces.
Unique airport-related inspections that may include underground-pressurized aircraft fuel lines.
Monitoring construction progress by contractors.
Inspect construction operations and materials used by contractors.
Observe, record, and review performance tests.
Prepare daily reports, test results, and photo records. Enter data into the Aviation Department project tracking system, UNIFIER.
