All work is located primarily in the Sayward Forest (outside of Campbell River), Eve River area (both drive to) and around Muchulat Inlet, near Gold River, which is generally accessed by boat or helicopter from Gold River. Bidders are strongly encouraged to select "Send Me Amendments" as an option on the Opportunity Notice published on BC Bid(R). By selecting this option a registered Bidder will be automatically notified of any addenda that may be issued. Unverified bid results will be posted to BC Bid after tender opening and once awarded the contract award results will be available on BC Bid. All blocks are to have all competing vegetation cut, including roadside Alder (Working from Ditch line center into the block). All cut brush species need to be removed (thrown back) from all streams and road running surfaces. Big leaf maples are to be single stemmed. Single stem to be chosen should be the tallest, most vigorous coppice. The treatment units that are located close to the ocean and may be accessed via beach drop off and pick up directly below the treatment units or may utilize an ATV for access on old road systems from old log dumps close by. Tree Protector removal blocks will have all cones removed from existing trees and all loose cones that have fallen off trees collected also. All cones are to be refurbished with new zap straps and packaged for redeployment by tree planting crew as per Appendix 2 and are to be neatly bundled and stored in the BCTS compound in Campbell River. The refurbished cones will be used for future tree planting contracts in spring and fall. Replacement zap straps, shrink wrap and tarps will be supplied by BCTS.
