The purpose of this RFI is to elicit proposed solutions for updating the existing New York City Transit S733 Signal Standard (Typical Signal Circuits) Specification (the "S733 Standard") for simplified application for Communication Based Train Control ("CBTC"). Currently, the S733 Standard treats CBTC as an overlay of the Auxiliary Wayside System ("AWS") which is required to interface with the existing wayside signaling equipment. As a result, the MTA must incorporate significant AWS work in its CBTC deployment contracts. Through this RFI, the MTA is seeking proposed solutions for updating the S733 Standard to provide for a more modern system design approach that will eliminate or significantly reduce AWS related work in future CBTC deployment contracts Please direct all communications related to this RFI, including all responses, to me by email at fabrizio.raho@mtacd.org.
