The Board of Education of Westwood Heights School District is accepting firm, sealed proposals for creating a new conference room from two smaller rooms and the construction (5) five new offices within the large classroom on the east side of the Keyser Building located at 3425 W. Pierson Rd. The Contract for this project will be direct with the Owner, Westwood Heights School District. Overall administration of the project will be the responsibility of the Project Manager. The owner will award the contract to the successful bidder within 30 days of the Bid Due date. All bids will be submitted on forms provided in the Contract Specifications. Facsimile bids will not be accepted Each bidder shall submit bid bond in the amount of 5% of the amount of the bid. All questions regarding the bidding procedures and specifications are to be directed to tclontz@hamadyhawks.net at Westwood Heights Schools before 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2022. Request documents via email at bennis@hamadyhawks.net. All bidders must provide familial disclosure in compliance with MCL 380.1267 and attach this information to the bid. The bid shall be accompanied by a sworn and notarized statement disclosing any familial relationship that exists between the Owner or the employee of the bidder and any member of the school district board, superintendent, or employee of the school district. No bid will be accepted that does not include this sworn and notarized disclosure statement. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, award the bid to other than low bidder and to waiver informalities, irregularities, and/or errors in the bid proposals, which the Owner feels to be in its best interest. Scope of Services Westwood Heights School District is seeking to engage a contactor(s) to provide the following construction services. Deliverables The proposal should include the cost for completing the following items in preparation for creating a new conference room from two smaller rooms and the construction (5) five new offices within the large classroom on the east side of the Keyser Building located at 3425 W. Pierson Rd. Office Area Work includes: Removing the existing carpet, base & acoustical ceilings within existing classroom Framing the (5) new offices with 20-gauge metal studs Installing sound batt insulation within new stud cavities Hanging & finishing of 5/8 Type-X drywall on new studs Installation of (5) new Birch doors & HM frames o Installation of new hardware including hinges, office lockset, & wall stops Priming & painting of new drywall Painting of existing perimeter walls of former classroom Painting of new HM frames & staining of Birch door slabs Installation of new 2x2 reveal edge "Radar" acoustical ceiling tile in commercial grid Providing (5) additional supply & (5) additional return diffusers in addition to relocating of the existing supply & return diffusers as needed Providing (6) duplex outlets in addition to reusing all of the existing outlets Relocating of existing lighting as needed as well as installation of (5) new single pole switches within offices Reworking of (4) existing data drops as needed so they terminate within new offices Conference Room Work includes: Removing the existing carpet, base, and ceiling tile - ceiling grid to remain Removing the existing wall that separates the two smaller offices Repairing the drywall where the wall was removed Priming of new drywall repairs and repainting of the perimeter walls Installation of new 2'x 4' square edge "Radar" ceiling tile within existing grid Installation of 9 lineal feet of plastic laminate base cabinets and countertop Installation of (2) new circuits for recepticles located above the new conference room countertop Relocating of the existing lighting and furnishing of (1) additional light fixture Reworking of circuits as required so all lighting within Conference Room is controlled by one switch Installation of (1) additional Category 6 data drop ran from the existing cabinet to Conference Room Proper Conduct The contractor shall adhere to proper conduct at all times. Proper conduct is meant to include, but not limited to the following: There shall be no weapons, drugs or alcohol on the premises. No smoking on the premises. No exterior doors, gates, entrances, etc. are left opened or unlocked. The contractor shall be polite and courteous at all times. Contractor must adhere to any/all security standards, requirements and/or regulations of each school. Contractors are to conform to all COVID-19 protocols required by the Westwood Heights Board of Education
