Site Location & Description The site is located on E. 6 th Street from N. 1 st Avenue to N. Weber Avenue in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A bridge is located just east of N. 1 st Avenue. The majority of the existing road is asphalt (overlay) overlying concrete. The site also includes the east bank of the Big Sioux River (on the north side of the bridge). Scope of Services Our work was performed in accordance with the authorization of Wes Philips with the City of Sioux Falls - Engineering Department. The scope of work as presented in this report is limited to the following: 1. To perform 31 test borings to gather data on the subsurface conditions for the project. 2. To perform laboratory tests that include moisture content and dry density. 3. To prepare an engineering report that includes the results of the field and laboratory tests as well as our geotechnical engineering opinions and recommendations regarding the following: o Existing pavement section; o Subsurface conditions; o Underground utility excavation and backfilling; o Trenchless installation method; o Subgrade strength and potential corrective measures; o Pavement section thickness; o Corrosive potential of the soils; o Special geotechnical conditions that may impact the constructability and final performance of the project; o Quality control observation and testing.
