As of June 20, 2023, the Spray Park at Humboldt Recreation Center is under construction and will be closed for the summer. A firm timeline for construction completion has not been established; however, the splash pad is anticipated to reopen by summer of 2024. A detailed scope has not been identified. The scope of the project consists of (but is not limited to): improvements to the existing splash pad at the Humboldt Street Recreation Center. The work includes the construction of new water lines, spray features, utility vault, and landscaping; and replacement of splash pad hardscapes and electrical control systems. The improvements will significantly upgrade the park’s infrastructure and make future maintenance considerably easier. Replacement of existing surfacing with colored concrete. Removal of existing underground control vault. Removal of existing spray features with modernized features. Construction of new above grade hot box. Construction of new manifold and water lines to spray features. Construction of new control system for spray features. Installation of new landscaping around hot box. The city said it is working to keep the playground and park area open throughout the construction project. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
