Contractor Qualification Highway Division Description-Crack sealing at various locations All bids for this project are subject to the provisions of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 30B, Section 5 as amended. No Bid may be withdrawn within sixty (60) days after the date of the opening of Bids. Wages are subject to Massachusetts minimum wage rates as per MGL Chapter 149, Section 26 to 27D, inclusive. Bidders shall furnish a Bid Bond in the amount of 5% of the signed Bid. Technical Specifications General for All Categories 1. The work to be done under this Contract shall include providing all labor, equipment and materials necessary to perform all operations in connection with the cleaning and sealing of random cracks in bituminous concrete pavements, including vegetation removal and sterilization of cracks where necessary. 2. Contractor shall supply the Town with Catalog Sheets and/or Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for every material to be used in connection with the work. 3. Equipment used in the performance of the work required shall be subject to the approval of the Town and maintained in a satisfactory working condition at all times. 4. All materials shall be applied in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. 5. Prior to work, the Owner will provide a list of which streets are to be rehabilitated. 6. Prior to work, the Owner shall decide whether traffic control is necessary. The Owner will pay for traffic control costs directly, but the Contractor will be responsible to order and schedule details. 7. The Contractor shall provide suitable methods to protect the surface treatment from traffic until the new surface will support traffic without damage. All traffic control methods used shall be in accordance with MUTCD standards and shall be employed in a safe manner. 8. All workmanship shall be of the highest quality, and any excess of spilled sealant shall be removed from the pavement by approved methods and discarded. Any workmanship determined to be below the high standards of the particular craft involved will not be accepted, and will be corrected and/or replaced as required by the Owner. Crack Sealing - Polymer & Crumb Rubber Modified (PCRM) Asphalt Compound with Reinforced Fibers for TOWN ROADS ONLY 1. Description The work covered by this section of the specification consists of furnishing all plant, labor, equipment and materials necessary to perform all operations in connection with the cleaning and sealing of construction and random cracks in bituminous concrete pavements on Town roads, including vegetation removal and sterilization of cracks, where necessary. 2. Material Crack sealant shall be a modified asphalt-fiber compound designed specifically for improving the strength and performance of the parent asphalt sealant. a. The asphalt binder shall consist of a blend of neat asphalt binder, chemically modified crumb rubber (CMCR), and a polymer package, all of which meet the following specifications: i. The binder will meet PG 64-28E requirements after modification including: 1. PG grade requirements of AASHTO M320 2. Requirements of AASHTO TP70/MP19 ii. Modification, at a minimum, shall consist of 7% crumb rubber, and the maximum particle size for the recycled tire rubber shall be 80 mesh (#80sieve) iii. The asphalt supplier shall provide testing for both the neat and modified asphalt binders
