The Marion County Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking proposals for Site Preparation, and Sod Sprigging for two full-size soccer fields and one half-size soccer field at Rotary Sportsplex. All prospective respondents are hereby advised to NOT CONTACT County officials other than Marion County Procurement Staff with regard to this project. All questions regarding this project shall be faxed to 352-671-8451. The scope of work consists of generally tilling/stripping of the existing turfgrass, finish/fine grading and installation and grow-in of sprigs on Fields 1, 2 and 3. The existing irrigation system at Fields 1, 2 and 3 are operational. Marion County Parks & Recreation will be removing all irrigation heads and marking vital components of each system for preservation purposes. If particular components are best preserved through removal and storing for re-installation later in the project, such work will be coordinated by Marion County Parks & Recreation. Upon completion of finish grading, Marion County Parks & Recreation will insure that the existing irrigation systems are operating as required, ahead of the sprigging operation Marion County Parks & Recreation operates Rotary Sportsplex as an active sports facility consisting of baseball fields, soccer fields and open use areas. This project is focused on the restoration of soccer fields 1, 2 and 3. A map is included for reference. Currently the fields are turf, primarily Bermuda turfgrass, with operational irrigation systems. Fields 2 and 3 also have existing sports field lighting systems with underground power supply. The perimeter of all fields are lined with established Live Oak trees with extensive root systems, some of which intrude into the soccer fields.
