Site work for a water / sewer project in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is: 945 LF of Trenchless Construction, 6'' Footing Drain, 1040 LF of Footing Drain Collector and Fittings, PVC, 6 dia, 4 EA of Footing Drain Cleanout, PVC 6 dia, 15 EA of Storm Sewer Service Stub, PVC, 2 and miscellaneous related work and appurtenances in accordance with the contract documents. Work shall commence as soon as possible after award and approval of the contract and performance bond. Work shall be completed no later than the designated contract completion date of June 30, 2023. Should the contractor fail to complete the work by this date, liquidated damages of $1,000 per calendar day will be assessed. The city manager shall announce the results of the bidding, together with recommendations thereon, to the City Council at its meeting to be held at 6:00 PM local time on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 in the Council Chambers in City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, Iowa, at which time and place the City Council will hear objections to the proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract for said 2021/22 . Clear Water Diversion Bidding documents and proposal forms obtained from any other source may have an incomplete set of documents. Bidders using bidding documents and/or proposal forms not obtained from the City of Ames Public Works Department are advised to contact the City of Ames Public Works Department to provide a contact name, mailing address, and phone number to enable receipt of necessary addenda. Reproduction of these documents without the express permission of the City of Ames is prohibited. The contractor shall not include sales or use taxes in the bid. Pursuant to the Iowa Code and Iowa Administrative Code, the contractor will be authorized to purchase building materials that will be incorporated into real property on this project tax-free. Iowa Construction Sales Tax Exemption Certificates will be issued by the City, which will authorize suppliers of building materials to sell materials exempt from Iowa sales tax and any applicable local option sales tax and school infrastructure local option sales tax to the entity listed on the certificate. Upon award of the contract, the successful contractor will be required to provide their project information, and information for each subcontractor and supplier requiring exemption certificates. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond is to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council, shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract, and shall guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of two (2) years from and after completion and acceptance by the City. The guaranteed maintenance period shall be four (4) years for new paving. Work shall commence as soon as possible after award and approval of the contract and performance bond. The City of Ames, Iowa, in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 78 Stat. 252, 42 U.S.C. 2000d 4 and Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Department of Transportation, Subtitle A, Office of Secretary, Part 21, Nondiscrimination in Federally assisted programs of the Department of Transportation issued pursuant to such Act, hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability in consideration for an award. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
