This project provides for installing a motorized lift on the orchestra pit. The orchestra pit has a cover that, when raised, enlarges the stage floor. A lifting ram or other drive system will raise and lower this cover, quickening the changeover time, lowering labor costs and increasing safety. Installation of an automated orchestra pit would virtually eliminate risk and worker injury incurred while changing the height of the orchestra pit. Labor to raise and lower the pit will be reduced and quick changeovers made possible. The floor would also be sturdier for performances on the theater stage. The project is included in the city's 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
