Scope of work includes repairing, sealing and waterproofing the entire building, roof systems, gutters, and exterior walls. Project overview: All metal roofing, gutters, and coping to be inspected, repaired or replaced and sealed of any openings and leaks. The modified bitumen roof on the office, training areas and dormitory areas shall be inspected, replaced and resealed from any openings and leaks. The roof shall be replaced with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) system in accordance with the engineers recommendation. Exterior Glazed Block, concrete and masonry walls shall be cleaned and resealed with the specified Sherwin Williams commercial grade clear coating material to prevent seepage and damage to the building exterior and interior. Windows shall be removed and inspected for leakage and re-flashed and resealed in accordance with the engineers report. All exterior stucco, metal beams or painted surfaces shall be properly cleaned, resealed and painted in accordance with the specified Sherwin Williams report recommendations. A Five (5) year warranty on all workmanship and a Twenty (20) year warranty on roof product materials is required. A cashiers check or bid bond payable to the City of Saraland in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidders proposal. Performance and Payment Bonds and evidence of insurance required in the bid documents will be required at the signing of the Contract. All bidders are encouraged to visit the City of Saraland Fire Station #3 located at 7787 Celeste Road and consult with the Building Inspection Department to familiarize themselves with all aspects of the project. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the Building Inspection Department at mblack@saraland.org or copies thereof. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Building Inspection Department/Architect; the bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for a period of (30) days. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owners judgement, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted.
