Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a library in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the addition of a library; for the demolition of a library; for the renovation of a library; and for site work for a library.

The Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina is seeking submittals from well-qualified architectural firms to provide architectural and engineering services including programming, design, and construction administration services for an expansion of the Given Memorial Library and Tufts Archives. In April 2022, the Village of Pinehurst assumed operations of the Given Library and Tufts Archives and is beginning the process of expanding the existing building. The Given Memorial Library and Tufts Archives was previously a privately funded 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provided free library services to Pinehurst residents in the historical building located on the Village Green in the Village Center. In addition to library services, the Tufts Archives preserves and displays the unique history of Pinehurst, North Carolina, from its founding in 1895. The Library is small in comparison to the population served, with extremely limited program space. Circulation of 43,887 physical items in 2019, or 2.6 items per capita, was 47 percent below the previous years state average. The Village would like to complete the design and bidding process prior to the 2024 US Open Golf Championships (June 2024) and begin construction of the library expansion shortly thereafter. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time
