Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Norton, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; for paving for a playground / park / athletic field; road / highway; and road / highway.

The City plans to overlay the Flag Rock Recreational Area with SM-12.5A at a maximum depth of 2- inches. The bid for the Flag Rock Recreational Area shall include all areas of the park broken into the following sub-sections: Entrance Roadway (+/-850 tons), Overlook Walkway (+/-65 tons), Shed Parking Area (+/-135 tons), Upper Campground & Road (+/-105 tons), and Lower Campground & Road (+/-450 tons). Asphalt should be bid on a per ton basis. In addition to the paving within Flag Rock, plans call for the installation of a new basketball court at John I. Burton High School for Norton City Schools (NCS). The bid for the basketball court shall include 650 sq. yd. of VDOT 21A compacted stone (4-inch depth), 650 sq. yd. of VDOT BM-25 base mix (3-inch depth), 650 sq. yd. of VDOT SM-9.5 (1.5-inch depth), undercut of existing area approximately 4-inches, and installation of two (2) basketball goals (provided by the NCS). A copy of the basketball court and goal details are available upon request from the City. Contractors are asked to separate the two (2) bids with their submission. Two (2) separate awards are anticipated, one (1) for each bid.
