Site work for a road / highway in Escanaba, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway.

The Forest Island ORV trail is a stacked loop system with approximately 38 miles of ORV trails located South of Escanaba. There are multiple sections of boardwalk on the trail with a total length exceeding 3,000 feet. As the boardwalks are typically 64 inches in width, the trail is currently open to smaller ORV's of 50 inches or less in width. The remaining portions of the trail are accessible to wider ORV's and with the rise in popularity of side-byside and quad vehicles, some damage to the boardwalks has resulted. A total of 17 sites are in need of repairs which consist of the following: Replacement of small existing timber bridges with larger bridges to accommodate side-by-side ORV's (Waypoints 001 and 002): Remove existing timber bridge, and construct a new timber bridge at each location with improved foundations. Adjust trail grades as necessary per the plans. Construction of a raised trail section in wetlands fill areas (Waypoints 007, 008, 011, 013, and 016): Work for these sites include removing any existing boardwalks, removing the existing topsoil from the proposed grade, hauling granular fill from borrow pits located on State of Michigan land to build up the proposed trail, soil compaction, and compacting a gravel surface. Associated soil erosion control measures and equalization culverts are included. Construction of a raised trail section in non-wetlands fill area (Waypoints 005, 007, 008, 010, 011, 012, 016, 019 (Alternate-1), and 020 (Alternate-2)): Work for these sites include removing and disposing of any existing boardwalks, removing the existing topsoil from the proposed grade and adjacent trail areas, excavating soil from the surrounding grade to build up the proposed trail, soil compaction, replacing top, placing and compacting a gravel surface, and installing boulders/stumps to abandon old trail sections. Associated soil erosion control measures are included. Removal and replacement of timber boardwalks (Waypoints 007, 008, 011, 013, and 016): Work at this site includes removing and disposing of the existing boardwalk sections, minor site grading, placement of geotextile fabric, construction and placement of new timber boardwalk sections, connection of sections with hinges and associated soil erosion control measures. New Culverts (Waypoints 014, 015, 017 & 018): Work at these sites includes removing and disposing of existing timber bridges, installing new culverts, backfilling, and adjusting trail grade, minor site grading, placing and compacting gravel surface. Associated soil erosion control measures are included. ACCEPTING QUESTIONS UNTIL: Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Security : 5% Bid The pre-bid meeting attendance sheet is attached.
