The State Preservation Board (SPB) is requesting responses to this Request for Proposal for an experienced general contractor with five (5) years or more of experience relevant to the scope of work described herein to perform services at the Texas Governor's Mansion. The scope of this project includes: replacement of loose pavers and slab levelling along walks across the mansion grounds and nearby Foundation Park; converting stairs to a ramp and replacing fountain plumbing in the Connally Garden; building greenhouse foundation walls and extending flatwork at the kitchen garden; and building new fences and gates at each end of the Colorado Street Pedestrian Plaza. An allowance will be held for refinishing a second, smaller fountain in the Connally Garden, with details to be developed after contractor is engaged. The Mansion and grounds were extensively restored and rehabilitated in 2012. This project addresses several accessibility, interpretive, safety, and functional issues across the Mansion Grounds and vicinity.
