The building is scheduled to open in January 2023. The art piece "must" be installed prior to the opening of the facility. Selected Artist is required to work with building contractor to coordinate installation prior to opening. The public art site is located on the corner of Hanauer Street and 5 th Avenue. The site is attached as Exhibit A. The art will be seen from both streets and pedestrian traffic. The vision for the Murray Civic Center is to become the emotional heart of Murray City. This will be accomplished by providing a Civic Center that is unique to Murray City and more than just a building. The exterior spaces and the building will work together to accomplish this goal. The Project will celebrate Murray's independent spirit by providing a unique design that creates a destination and reinforces the strong identity of Murray. The Civic Center will be inclusive and welcoming to the community and celebrate the accessibility and transparency of the Murray City government. It will be responsibly designed with functionality and sustainability at the forefront of every decision. The project will also be a catalyst for economic development in the surrounding area and help Murray City realize its Central District Master Plan. The contractor selected for this project should address one or more of the following goals in the proposal: o To create an artwork that encourages interaction. o Be a quality work of art. o Large scale, to fit in the project site and stand out in the urban setting. o To be playful, bold, and iconic. o Reflective of Murray City's culture and independent spirit. o Appeal to all Murray residents of all ages and encourage civic pride. o To reinforce the mission of the Murray Civic Center as the emotional heart of the city. o To be safe in a public setting. o The work must be able to hold up and be easily maintained in a public setting. o Project time frame. Murray City desires the project to be completed and installed no later than January 6, 2023. o Contractor to meet with Facilities staff as often as required during project timeline. o Proof of insurance, current business license, state registration/license, and performance bond (for total amount of the bid) will be required upon awarded bid. Contractor is responsible for attaining all required permits prior to beginning construction and any damage to facility incurred in the process of work provided. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
