Saving Project...

Site work and new construction of a water / sewer project in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; and for the construction of a water / sewer project.

As part of the Giant Mine Remediation Project, plans call for the construction of a new water treatment plant (WTP) to treat contaminated water from the mine pool during and after planned remediation activities. The new WTP will replace the existing Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). Scope of work consists of deep well drilling through bedrock to access contaminated water in the underground mine pool. In addition, the plant is to be heated utilizing a biomass boiler system. Construction will include a separate building to house the biomass boiler, and installation of all other related components and infrastructure. *Parsons Inc. is the main Construction Manager (MCM) acting as the Prime Contractor and the Mine Manager since 2017. The Giant Mine Remediation Project addresses the long-term containment and management of the arsenic trioxide waste, the demolition and removal of all buildings on the surface, and the remediation of surface areas including the tailings ponds at the former Giant Mine site in Yellowknife. It also includes water management and treatment options. Total estimated cost for the Giant Mine Remediation Project $4.38 billion.
