Subcontractors are to identify the types of work for which they wish to prequalify: Mechanical; Electrical. The purpose of this request is to prequalify and select successful subtrades to undertake this work. Following successful prequalification, the proponebts will be asked to provide a design assist proposal as directed by PCL later. Base on the size of the project, it is anticipated the value of the mechanical and electrical scopes will be more than $50,000,000.00 per scope. The work is scheduled to begin in January 2023 and be fully completed by October 2025. Portage District General Hospital is a regional health centre owned by Southern Health Sante Sud located in the community of Portage la Prairie. Constructed in 1956, it serves an area with a population of over 50,000 people and includes the City of Portage la Prairie, the six Rural Municipalities of Alonsa, Westlake-Gladstone, North Norfolk, Portage la Prairie, Cartier and Grey. It also includes the four First Nations communities of Sandy Bay, Dakota Tipi, Dakota Plains and Long Plain. The new hospital will be two-stories and will function primarily as an A-2 health care facility (Annex B, Table B.1 of the CSA Z8000-18 Standards for Canadian Health CF, is used to classify the functions and provide recommended planning, design and construction standards) estimated at approximately 24,046 square meters, with 114 patient beds. Site development including any necessary infrastructure, access roads and surface parking to support the operations of the new facility will be included as part of the project. It will continue to offer the existing clinical and support services with a goal to improve the quality of healthcare for family and patients.
