UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select an Executive Architect for the proposed UCLA Center for Health Science (CHS) AV-600 Vivarium Staff Area Renovation. The CHS Vivarium Tower building, designed by Welton Beckett in 1954, is a 127,962 seven-story, two-level below-grade building located at 10833 Le Conte Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90095. The building is part of the UCLA Center for Health Sciences complex. The Division of Laboratory and Animal Medicine (DLAM) proposes to renovate approximately 1,706 sq. ft. of vacant storage space located on the A level of CHS Vivarium Tower into a Women's Locker/Shower Room and a Men's Locker/Shower Room; a Gender-Neutral Locker/Shower Room; two Gender Neutral Single Occupancy Restrooms and a Breakroom for Vivarium Staff. The proposed renovations will include building improvements. Building upgrades will consist of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety work, and ADA-triggered scope. The scope may be prioritized or phased to align with available funds. The implementation of the project is dependent upon the availability of funding. The design shall comply with the University of California Policy on Sustainable Practices. The construction cost is anticipated to be in the range of $900,000 to $1,000,000. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
