CR Number: 2087385 Geotechnical Support Services for I-81 Viaduct Project Notice is hereby given that Parsons Transportation Group of New York, Inc. (Parsons) will accept sealed bids for performing geotechnical investigations in association with the I-81 Viaduct Project, being completed for the New York State Department of Transportation. Parsons Transportation Group of New York, Inc. (Parsons) has been retained by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to manage a Geotechnical Exploration and Sampling contract for the above referenced bridge project. We respectfully request that you review the project Scope of Services (Attachment A), and if interested, submit bid proposal to outline your approach to the work, any assumptions, and an itemized unit cost for the project. The required services include split barrel soil sampling, undisturbed Shelby Tube sampling and rock coring. The proposal should include all costs as defined in the Scope of Services, including those associated with mobilization, data collection, field report preparation and any other incidentals. Project Location The project locations are located in the City of Syracuse, NY. The followings are the project area: (i) Group 1 - I-81/I-481 South Interchange. (ii) Group 2 - I690 between east of Almond St to west of Beech St, Downtown area; and (iii) Group 3 - I-81 between south of Van Buren St to north of E. Brighton Ave. Provide soil borings, rock cores, soil samples, and supporting services, at three (3) groups of project locations sites (Group 1, 2 & 3). Please refer to the full Request for Proposals for scope of work, bid form, boring locations plans, record boring information, and insurance requirements. - NYSDOT Geotechnical Design Manual, Chapter 4, February 2, 2022; -NYSDOT Standard Specifications, Section 619, 648 and 732 Project Conditions and Requirements -Soil Borings shall be taken in accordance with Chapter 4 of the NYSDOT Geotechnical Design Manual. - A total of 80 borings are required. - See Request for Proposals for record boring information. - NX rock cores shall be taken. Rock cores will be 10 ft deep with 85% minimum recovery. - Contractor shall apply for/obtain all permits including but not limited to Highway Work Permit(s) from NYSDOT and City of Syracuse. - Contractor shall provide Work Zone Traffic Control in accordance with NYSDOT Standard Specifications (Section 619) of and Standard Sheets (619 Series), as required, to perform drilling operations. - Contractor shall locate boring locations in the field with a sub-one-meter GPS unit or approved equal and supply that data to Parsons. - Boring will be performed from the roadway surface, grass/vegetated, or off roadway areas in the vicinity of the new bridge substructures foundation or walls. - No laboratory testing is required. - New York State Prevailing Wage Rates apply. - A drill rig inspector will be required on-site during drilling operations. Contractor shall coordinate field work with the drill rig inspector representative. - Deliver field logs, soil samples and rock cores to: New York State Department of Transportation Regional Geotechnical Lab 4603 Nixon Park Drive, Syracuse, NY 13215.
