Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 55,900-square-foot educational facility; for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and for the construction of a 10,500-square-foot educational facility.

MaSU, in conjunction with an architectural firm, has determined that a complete renovation of all interior and exterior elements of Old Main is required. MaSU is looking to renovate the building to improve academic functionality, aesthetics, ADA, safety and mechanical efficiencies. We request the services of an architect to work with in developing a full design and construction documents for the project. Situated at the entrance of the MaSU campus, the Old Main Building was constructed in two phases in 1890 and 1905 with a GSF of 55,900. Old Main building houses 41% of the classroom space, 53 staff and faculty. The college has received approval from the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education and the North Dakota Legislature for this project. The $52 million project is funded by one-time appropriation from the state legislature. At this time, MaSU wishes to proceed with all the preliminary and functional design work necessary for this project. Phase I Basic design and cost estimate: Building envelope and exterior renovation, soil and structural testing and design Basic Schematic pre-design of Old Main interior. Schematic plan for exterior renovation and landscaping. Cost estimates of the design plans. Conceptual artwork of the design plans. Relocation planning and design for temporary facilities for instruction and offices. Phase II Final Design and Construction Plan and bidding, Construction Full Design and construction documents for the Old Main renovation interior and exterior and landscaping. Full design and implementation of relocation plan. Development of plans and specifications to be used for the solicitation of bids as per North Dakota Century Code (NDCC) chapter 48-01.2. Preparation of all bid documents, including advertising and instructions to bidders, and oversight of the bidding process to ensure compliance with all requirements.
