Site work and paving for a civil project in Northport, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and road / highway.

**As of July 20, 2022, the award amount is $399,686.59. Work may start after the budget is approved and after July 1, 2022, and shall be completed by October 15, 2022. The Town of Northport is accepting bids for three separate paving and reclaiming, ditching, and culvert replacement projects. The bids will be awarded at the Select Board meeting on Monday, June 27, 2022, after 6:00 pm at the Town Office. The successful applicant will provide a copy of general liability and workers compensation insurance prior to beginning work. The Select Board reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids. Paving Scope of Work Approximately 2.7 miles of paving to be done, broken down as follows: Prescott Hill Rd 1.3 miles 1.5" broken down as 0.5" shim laid first then 1" overlay of 9.5 mix on an average width of 20'. Add gravel to shoulders and driveways for an even transition after pavement is laid. Rocky Rd 1.1 miles 1.5" broken down as 0.5" shim laid first then 1" overlay of 9.5 mix on an average width of 20'. Add gravel to shoulders and driveways for an even transition after pavement is laid. Saturday Cove Rd 0.3 miles 1.5" broken down as 0.5" shim laid first then 1" overlay of 9.5 mix on an average width of 18'. Add gravel to shoulders and driveways for an even transition after pavement is laid. Paving Specifications 1. The Contractor shall compact all reclaimed material to 95% of its maximum dry density as determined by ASTM D-1557. The Contractor shall compact pavement to between 92 and 97% of its theoretical maximum density as determined by ASTM D 2041. 2. If Contractor is using a local mix, it shall be Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) approved and meet the same standards as the MDOT "superpave" mixture. 3. The Contractor shall taper all driveway entrances to match the new pavement. 4. When new pavement stops on an existing paved road or intersection, the Contractor shall grind the old pavement for smooth transition from old to new. 5. The Contractor shall lay down hot mix asphalt only when the surface on which the material is to be placed is dry and when the atmospheric temperature is above 45 degrees and rising. 6. The Contractor shall ensure that all existing paved surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and dry and shall be tack coated prior to placement of the asphalt mixture. 7. The Contractor shall follow the MDOT methods and precautions. 8. Methods and practices such as excessive speed and disregard of mailboxes shall be controlled by the Contractor and will be monitored by the Town. 9. The Contractor shall supply its own safety control, traffic control, and proof of $400,000.00 Liability insurance. 10. The Contractor shall provide a list of all subcontractors to be used, if any. 11. The Town's Road Commissioner shall inspect and approve all work done before payment is made. 12. Bids shall be broken down by tons of asphalt and price per ton Ditching & Culvert replacement Scope of Work Approximately 5769 feet (5769') of ditching on Prescott Hill Road and Rocky Road. Two (2) cross culverts to be replaced on Rocky Road. 1. 18"x40' 2. 18"x40' The Town will supply all culverts. Ditching & Culvert replacement Specifications: 1. The bottom of the ditch 30" deep if possible, compacted and rounded 2. Uniform grade to prevent ponding of water 3. Two foot (2') shoulder 4. 2 to 1 in-slope 5. 2 to 1 back-slope 6. Cross culverts must be down to allow for at least 2 feet of material on top. 7. Driveway culverts must be down to allow for at least 1 foot of material on top. 8. 2" minus used for back fill 9. 3' minimum of culvert for edge of travelled way to ditch 10. Cross culverts rocked in around inlet and outlet 11. Culverts to be plastic if possible
