As of July 7, 2022, bids were canceled. No definite date for the rebid. project having the following specifications relating to its school parking area located on the north side of the school building, located at 8707 W, U.S. Highway 36, Modoc, Indiana. The estimated square footage of the parking area, including three (3) islands, adjourning said parking area containing 198,000 to 208,000 square feet. The successful bidder will remove all three islands and install a stone base and pave said islands with asphalt as described herein. The existing parking area shall be milled out, down approximately one inch with all debris being removed and disposed of. All pothole areas shall be repaired, power cleaned, and weed killer applied. A tack coat and one and one/half (11/2") to three inches (3") of new hot asphalt shall be applied to the existing parking area and the area presently covering the three existing islands. Bidders shall be required to use type #9A surface asphalt. At completion of the paving, striping of parking spaces shall be required at the direction of Michael Huber, Superintendent. The successful bidder will be required to excavate, remove, dispose of all debris, grade all areas to be paved, apply tack coat, surface asphalt, striping, power cleaning, patching of all potholes and milling. The project must be completed no later than September 15, 2022. If the completion date is not met, then the successful bidder shall be assessed a late fee of one thousand dollars ($1,000) per day. Each bidder shall be required to file a bond or certified check with the bid in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid contract prize. The successful bidder shall be required to post a performance bond if the successful bid is more than Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000); however, if the successful bid is less than Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000), the successful bidder shall post with Union School Corporation an irrevocable letter of credit in an amount of the successful bid from an Indiana Financial institution approved by the department of financial institution instead of a performance bond.
