Site work for a water / sewer project in Midlothian, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

This project involves the installation of 10 fire hydrant assemblies on existing water lines at specified locations, determined and specified by the city staff and as shown in the contract. The successful BIDDER may be required to submit written evidence, such as financial data, present commitments and available equipment, and will submit such data within five days of OWNER'S written request. No bid may be changed, amended or modified by telegram or otherwise after the above time and date. A bid may be, however, withdrawn and resubmitted any time prior to the time set for receipt of bids. Bid security in the form of Cashier's Check, Bid Bond or other negotiable instrument in the amount of 5% of the greatest amount bid must accompany each bid as a guarantee that, if awarded the contract, the bidder will promptly enter into a contract and execute bonds and insurance as outlined in the specifications and Instructions to Bidders. In case of ambiguity or lack of clearness in stating proposal prices, the Owner reserves the right to adopt the most advantageous construction thereof, or to reject any or all bids and to waive any formality in connection therewith. No bid may be withdrawn within forty-five (45) days after date on which bids are opened. The deadline to ask questions is 6/17/2022 12:00 PM CDT SCOPE OF WORK: A. The work governed by these specifications is located in the City of Midlothian, Texas, and consists of 2022-2023 FIRE HYDRANT PROGRAM, including all necessary appurtenances. B. The intent of the contract documents, including the Standard Specifications, Technical Specifications, and other instruments, documents, drawings, maps, etc., comprising the Plans and Specifications, is to describe a completed Work to be performed by the Contractor under the contract as an independent contractor. C. The Work shall be staked by the Contractor and will be performed subject to the right of inspection of the City of Midlothian or its authorized representative. The Contractor shall set all stakes needed for utility line installation. Any provision of the agreement vesting in the Owner or Engineer the right of supervision or inspection is understood by the parties hereto to be for the purpose of ensuring that the plans and specifications are complied with and that the completed Work is performed as therein described, and no such provision shall be interpreted as vesting in the Owner or Engineer the right to control the details of the Work. D. The Contractor will maintain at all times on the job site, a superintendent authorized to receive and execute instructions from the Engineer. E. The Contractor shall employ only competent, efficient workmen and shall not use on the Work any unfit person or one not skilled in the Work assigned to him; and shall at all times maintain good order among his employees. Whenever the Owner shall inform the Contractor in writing that, in his opinion, any employee is unfit, unskilled, disobedient or is disrupting the orderly progress of the Work, such employee shall be removed from the Work and shall not again be employed on it. Under urgent circumstances, the Owner may orally require immediate removal of an employee for cause, to be followed by written confirmation. 01200.3 REMOVAL ITEMS: On this project, the removal of existing concrete curb and gutters, asphalt paving, concrete sidewalk, drainage pipes, and concrete and gravel drive approaches shall be at the locations indicated by the Engineer and shall be considered subsidiary to the pay item for removal and disposal of existing material. All concrete curb and gutter and drive approaches removed will be broken out at existing construction expansion joints if possible. Where existing concrete is removed at a location other than a joint, the slab will be sawed in a neat straight line the full depth of the slab. The cost for sawing and breaking shall be considered subsidiary to the unit price bid for removal and disposal of existing materials (site preparation). The Contractor shall make every effort to protect all concrete surfaces that will remain. Any remaining surfaces damaged during removal operations by the Contractor will be replaced by Contractor at his own expense. Where existing curb and gutter is to be removed, the limits of excavation shall extend to a point twelve (12") inches back of the existing curb and to the same depth as the existing curb and gutter. The excavation will terminate at a neat smooth section parallel to the removed concrete structure and no construction debris shall be placed beyond these limits of excavation. The cost for this excavation shall be considered subsidiary to the pay item for removal and disposal of existing material. At no place shall the Contractor pile materials of any kind on the job site outside the road bed itself. The responsibility of locating suitable disposal sites for removal items on this project will be the sole responsibility of the Contractor. The Owner will in no way be responsible for the actions of the Contractor if he disposes of excess material in locations that are not approved. No dumping or disposal of excess material will be allowed in floodplains or below the 100-year flood elevation of drainage ways.
