The Project for which the Work under the Contract Documents may be the whole or only a part is generally described as follows: White Elephant Detention Basin Improvements Phase 2. The White Elephant Detention Basin is a regional stormwater detention basin that collects stormwater from the east and central portions of the City of Sturgis. The project is intended to improve the storage capacity and overall performance of the basin. The Phase 2 expansion builds on the initial expansion completed in 2014. The White Elephant Detention Basin Improvements Phase 2 project consists of the following major items of work: temporary dewatering to access the existing detention basin bottom; excavation of the detention basin expansion on the north side of Fawn River Road; placement of excavated material to form a low-flow channel in the bottom of the basin; excavation of the detention basin expansion on the south side of Fawn River Road; stockpile excavated material onsite; and installation of a culvert under Fawn River Road White Elephant Detention Basin Improvement Phase 2
