As of October 30, 2023, a design firm has been selected and this project is in the design phase. A bid date and time for a contractor has not been released but anticipated for November 2023. A firm timeline for construction has not been established; however, construction is eager to begin spring 2024. A detailed scope has not yet been released. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The proposed site is: Wampler Park - a portion of 30.38 acres at 1832 Main Ave West, Massillon, Oh 44647. Site shall accommodate a new approximate 3,500 s.f. splash pad design (flow-through) with engineering; support structure for mechanical equipment, and water system servicing the splash pad; multi-aged playground, shade structures, pavilion enhancement, pedestrian connectivity and ADA changing facilities and restrooms. Splash pad and playground are conceptualized as regional destination type in size.
