Project consists of installing 5 new rail tracks (approximately 12,000 linear feet); grading and paving; drainage; fencing; steel casing; sewer; waterline relocation; fire protection; electrical improvements; and striping and signage. The track consists of 136 pound continuously welded rail (CWR) on concrete ties, timber ties, ballast, and subballast. The on-dock railyard expansion also includes powered turnouts, manual derails, track bumpers, and expansion of the existing train-inmotion system. Project involves utilizing the existing compressed air building and constructing new compressed air pits. Each bid must be accompanied by a scanned copy of the following: a check certified by a responsible financial institution, or a cashier's check issued by a responsible financial institution, or by a satisfactory bid bond, payable to the order of City of Los Angeles Harbor Department, for an amount not less than 10 percent of the aggregate sum of the bid, as a guarantee that Bidder shall enter into Contract if awarded, and furnish the required bonds. Bid bond shall be placed with insurance carriers which are rated VII, A- or better in Best's Insurance Guide. If a Best's Insurance Guide rating is not available, then the proposed carrier must meet comparable standards in another rating service satisfactory to City.
