Site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Nashville, Tennessee. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

https://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/news/2023/01/20/broadway-bridge-closure-replacement-tdot-detours.html Jan 20, 2022 The widest and most traveled of the three bridges that are gateways to downtown Nashville will close for eight weeks beginning July 5, so that a new one can be built. State officials revealed new details of the construction process for a new Broadway bridge on Jan. 19, including renderings of the final design. The new bridge will look very similar to the existing one and have the same number of lanes (six), but with larger sidewalks and a row of planters to act as a buffer between pedestrians and vehicles. More than 23,000 vehicles cross the bridge on an average day -- equal to the average daily traffic over the Church Street and Demonbreun Street bridges combined. Those two bridges feature prominently in the planned detour routes once officials shut off access to the Broadway bridge. Charlotte Avenue also likely will see more traffic as a result of those detours. The impact of the bridge shutdown will be far-reaching, and not just on the downtown side of the bridge, whose nearby landmarks include the Grand Hyatt, Frist Art Museum, historic Union Station Hotel, an apartment tower with a Whole Foods and a newly built office tower. The bridge is a primary route for delivery trucks and WeGo buses. In Midtown, on the other side of the downtown interstate loop, detours will begin at 14th Avenue -- a stretch that witnesses almost 33,000 vehicles on the average day, according to state estimates. This map shows the planned detours for the eight weeks this summer when the Broadway bridge will be demolished and rebuilt. Blue is the main detour, routing drivers to Demonbreun or Church streets; red is the actual bridge closure; yellow is for local access only; green is a pedestrian route; orange and dark blue routes provide interstate access. The bridge is nearing the end of its lifespan, according to the state Department of Transportation. Officials have said the new bridge could last 75 to 100 years. Next month, traffic will be narrowed to two lanes either direction on the existing bridge. Access will be shut off on July 5 to allow for the bridge replacement to happen. The bridge will reopen to traffic on Sept. 1, and the project will be completed Oct. 31, according to the construction schedule published on TDOT's website. TDOT website's also includes this FAQ, with questions such as "will you please improve the design of the bridge" and "why is there not a dedicated bike/pedestrian lane" Kiewit Infrastructure South Co., part of Kiewit Corp., won the contract to build the bridge at an estimated cost of nearly $72 million. _________________________________________________________ Davidson County Project No. 19019-3225-04 SR-1 (Broadway), Bridge Over 11th Ave South and CSX R/R, LM 17.29 (IA) Project Length - 124238.000 miles Completion Time - On or before 10/31/2023 (See Special Provision 108B) Each bid must be accompanied by an electronic bid bond or a Cashier's or Certified Check made payable to the Department of Transportation, or Irrevocable Letter of Credit naming the Department as beneficiary (for Mowing and Litter projects only), in an amount equaling not less than five percent (5%) of the amount bid.
