As of June 15, 2022, this project is in the early planning phase. An engineer has not been selected. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to June 2024. A detailed scope of work has not been determined. Youngsville leaders have advocated for years to acquire maintenance rights over state and parish roads to expedite expansion and improvement projects. Recently, the city successfully secured state capital outlay dollars with help from the city of Broussard for a joint widening project of a stretch of La. 89 that runs through both cities.
