Written questions will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. local time on July 8, 2022. Said questions are to be submitted in Electronically The City of Ames Purchasing Division is the only authorized source of proposal documents. Proposal documents obtained from any other source may have an incomplete set of documents. Contractors using proposal documents not obtained from the City of Ames Purchasing Division to enable receipt of necessary addenda. Reproduction of these documents without the express permission of the City of Ames is prohibited. The project site is located at the Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Avenue, Ames, IA 50010. The work is to inspect window installation and evaluate water issues occurring in the East windows on the 2nd floor, make recommendations, and complete necessary repairs to stop the leaks. No Contractor may withdraw their proposal for at least sixty days after the scheduled closing time for receiving proposals. If the accepted proposal is over $25,000, the selected Contractor will be required to provide a performance and payment bond equal to the total proposal amount. Contractor will include the cost of the performance and payment bond in the proposal. Each successful Contractor shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City's Risk Manager and shall guarantee faithful performance of the contract and terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee prompt payment of material and labor and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the work in good repair for a period of one (1) year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. The Contractor shall not include sales or use taxes in the proposal. Pursuant to Iowa Code and Iowa Administrative Code, the Contractor will be authorized to purchase building materials that will be incorporated into real property on this project tax-free. Iowa Construction Sales Tax Exemption Certificates will be issued by the City which will authorize suppliers of building materials to sell materials exempt from Iowa sales tax and any applicable local option sales tax and school infrastructure local option sales tax to the entity listed on the certificate. Upon award of the contract, the successful Contractor will be required to provide project information on the Contractor, and each subcontractor and supplier requiring the exemption certificates. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products and provision grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa labor, to the extent lawfully required under Iowa statutes. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
