Deadline for Submitting Bid Questions 4:00 pm, Tuesday, June 28, 2022 All questions shall be submitted by email to the Director of Public Works at bbrinton@orange-ct.gov. All questions will be answered by email. Bidders must provide contact information to the town by emailing snapoli@orangect.gov and bbrinton@orange-ct.gov, to ensure that they receive bid addenda and other notifications. All bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope, clearly marked "2022 REPLACE CATCH BASIN TOPS BID" received in the Public Works office by the time of the bid opening specified above. The Bid Form, Project References, Equipment List and Non-Collusive Affidavit of Prime Bidder must be enclosed in the sealed envelope. Bids, corrections, and/or modifications received after the time the Town officials open the first bid will not be accepted. Description This item shall consist of replacing catch basin tops and, where necessary, performing masonry work including rebuilding or replacing concrete block or concrete grade rings. Unless otherwise specified, work shall conform to Connecticut Department of Transportation Form 818, Standard Specifications for Roads, Bridges, Facilities, and Incidental Construction. Materials The Town of Orange shall furnish all major materials for this project, including precast concrete catch basin tops (including steel frames and grates), concrete blocks and grade rings, bagged mortar mix, processed aggregate backfill, topsoil, grass seed, and straw. The contractor shall provide the town with a list of materials needed prior to beginning work. Construction The Contractor shall sawcut the existing pavement around each basin, excavate to below the catch basin top, remove the existing catch basin top, and replace it with a new catch basin top on a leveling bed of mortar. If masonry repairs to the catch basin are needed, the contractor shall remove existing concrete blocks or grade rings as necessary and shall rebuild or replace the concrete blocks or grade rings to the base of catch basin top elevation. Processed aggregate backfill shall be placed and compacted to the existing pavement elevation around the catch basin, and lawn areas shall be restored. At the end of each workday, the road shall be swept and left clean. Traffic control, including signs, cones, and flagmen, shall be the responsibility of the contractor. The town will furnish a dump truck and driver and will haul away and dispose of the old catch basin tops (including frames and grates) and excavated pavement and soil.
