MAWSS intends to renovate and convert the existing EMA building for a new laboratory,pretreatment and EOC facility. The scope of site work includes removal of existing improvements which are either abandoned, no longer working or do not serve the needs of the new building. GMCwill evaluate the existing drainage structures and provide engineering services for drainage improvements if needed. GMC will design a new dumpster pad enclosure and gates and provide associated water and drainage if required. The goal for the site is to have a clean property that is easily maintained with few obstructions. The scope of the building modifications includes selective demolition, new lighting, new finishes, new casework, new lab casework and equipment, and new HVAC plumbing and electrical as required for the new laboratory. The existing generator, HVAC system and roofing will be evaluated to determine the scope of repairs or replacement as necessary. HVAC is of particular concern.We anticipate additional HVAC equipment will be required to provide the lab appropriate make-up air and will provide mechanical engineering design as required. GMC will provide a structural analysis of the existing elevated floor slab to determine additional loading capacity. GMC will provide structural engineering as required if additional structural support is required. Plans and specifications are for viewing purposes only and in order to be considered an official bidder contractors must obtain plans and specifications from Goodwyn Mills & Cawood Inc. The following contract bid documents, Bid Proposal, Bid Bond, Subcontracting Plan, SSO and Unpermitted Discharge Prevention Notification, and any addendum attachments shall be printed on yellow color paper and tabbed. The Contractor shall be responsible for preparing its bid package in accordance with this guideline. Envelopes containing bids must be sealed and delivered to the Director, Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners of the City of Mobile, Alabama, at 4725 Moffett Road, Mobile, Suite A, Mobile, Alabama 36618-0249: "Bid for constructing Contract No.: AMOB210099 Mobile Area Water and Sewer System EMA Conversion to MAWSS, to be opened at 1:00 p.m., Local Time, July 11, 2022." The Bidder's Alabama State Contractor's License Number and discipline shall be on the envelope. Bid guarantee in the form of certified check, bid bond, or Irrevocable Letter of Credit acceptable to the Board will be required for at least 5% of the bid amount, not to exceed $10,000*. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality in bids received.
