The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will hire contractors to conduct brush and vegetation control for the Rush Creek Northern area (7 acres) and the Southern area (9.62 acres). Work in the north unit could start as soon as the contract is awarded-August 15th 2022 and from May 30th - June 15th 2023 for the foliar herbicide application, and the cut and herbicide work for this unit runs October 10-April 20. July 15th would be the date we'd determine if the treatments were 90% kill or not for the north unit, and June 10th would be the date for the South unit. So for the northern unit-because it has both foliar and cut stump (south unit-cut stump only for this next dormant season) all work would need to be completed by July 30th 2023, and for the south unit, all work would need to be completed by June 30th. Note-this is extremely steep and rugged, with very difficult access-see pic taken of the site in 2011 before the brush exploded. There are only a few places where one can go up the steep roadside ROW bank. Also, MN DNR has done a lot of work on bluff prairies and they calculate 1 acre of steep hill to equate to 1.5 acres of actual ground if it was flattened out
