Renovation of a fire / police facility in Morgan Hill, California. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.
In 2004, the City acquired an industrial building and upgraded the building to serve as an "essential public safety" building and Police headquarters. The facility was sized to accommodate future growth with approximately 6,000 square feet not then utilized by the Department, which was subsequently leased to a private entity. In 2019, the Information Technology Division began utilizing about 1,400 square feet of the available space, with the remainder still being leased out. Recently the tenant has vacated the space and the Police Department, in coordination with the Public Services Department, is working on a plan for expansion into the space. This project will fund the initial planning for future growth of the Police Department and a limited number of the initial improvements for use of the facility space. The improvements identified include use of the additional office space, reconfiguration of existing office space, upgrade and expansion of the security card system, and relocation and improvements to the exterior fencing. This project is included in the City of Morgan Hill's FY 2022-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of July 11, 2022, information regarding a design team or a general contractor is not available. Funding is anticipated in 2022-2023.* *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
