As of July 21, 2022, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the design status. Reconstruct Campground Roads NATURAL RESOURCES - POINT BEACH STATE FOREST This project will repave all the roads in the family campground. The existing roads were last paved 40+ years ago and are in various stages of disrepair. The main campground road (3,015 feet) is still in fair condition and will get a 2" overlay. The remaining (5,491 feet) of the campground roads do not meet design standards for width and will need to be widened from the current variable 9 - 11.5 foot paved width to a 12 foot paved width. This work includes full depth reconstruction including: asphalt removal, common excavation, geofabric, base aggregate dense, and repaving with 2.25" binder and 2" of surface. Also included in this project are 4 small parking areas receiving a 2" overlay (1,266 sq. yd.) with parking lot restriping and reuse of existing parking blocks. Additionally, a roadway profile correction and hill cut is needed in the area near campsites 59 - 62.
