The Town of Front Royal is requesting proposals from interested engineering firms for Annual Bridge Inspection and Bridge Reports in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and ASSHTO Standards as required by the Federal Highway Administration and submitted to the Virginia Department of Transportation, Bridge Division, Staunton, VA.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
The scope of the work for the services shall include, but not be limited to, the following items:
Phase A:
A. Assemble all available data from existing bridge files.
B. Perform field inspections study to address, but not be limited to, the following
items:
1. Perform bridge inspections at required intervals (annually and biannually). See attached Inspection Schedule.
2. Perform a structural rating analysis on each bridge as required by
ASSHTO Standards and the Manual of Condition Evaluations of
Bridges.
3. Perform a load capacity rating of bridge structures
4. Delinquent inspection of structures -- frequency plus months for weight
restrictions
6. Follow-up to critical recommendations on the bridge inspection report as
needed
7. Requirements for the underwater inspection of bridge elements, as
needed
8. Evaluation of structure for susceptibility to scour and related foundation
failure potential
9. Any other bridge inspections required by the Federal Highway
Administration and/or Virginia Department of Transportation. A. Assemble all information in a report to be filed with the Virginia Department of
Transportation, Bridge Division, Staunton, VA
B. Reports shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
1. Supplementary Bridge Report -- Form B-6 (7-82).
2. Bridge Inspection Report-- Form B-7 (11-87).
3. Structure Inventory and Appraisal as per recording and copying guide
for the Structure Inventory and Appraisal of the Nation's Bridges
4. Additional reports as mandated by the Virginia Department of
Transportation.
5. "Pontis" Bridge Management System Inspection as required by the
Virginia Department of Transportation.
