Replacement of the existing fire alarm system and connection to the existing fire alarm system fiber network. a. Buildings to be included in the project: 1) Adult Treatment Center Fire alarm and network control annunciators (NCA) panels shall be updated and programmed with the addition of the ATC building. b. Existing fire alarm devices shall be removed and where not replaced a blank cover-plate shall be installed. Fasteners shall be security type. Provide new ceiling tiles at existing ceiling mounted devices that are removed. Remove all flexible conduits up to nearest junction box. c. A new conduit system shall be provided as required for new wiring. d. The project shall be constructed so as to minimize system downtime. Work shall be coordinated with the Owner's operating personnel so as to protect, to the fullest extent possible, the building and its occupants. e. The new fire alarm system is configured as a "private" system as defined by the International Building Code. As such, the system shall only notify the appropriate staff. f. The building is classified as an I-2 occupancy and fully sprinklered. Smoke detectors are not required in patient rooms. g. The existing fire alarm system shall remain active throughout the construction project. Fire watch shall be provided for areas where the system is inactive during system changeover. h. At the completion of the installation, in each building section, the new fire alarm system shall be fully tested and appropriately certified by the installing contractor. i. Provide State approved fire watch as required. j. All existing wiring/conduit routes shall be verified. The contractor shall provide asbuilt riser diagrams and floor plans with exact wiring routes for new and existing wiring that is used on the project. This shall be included as part of the as-built drawings submitted at the end of the project. F. Alternate Bid Items: 1. Alternate definition: An amount proposed by bidders and sated on the Bid Form for certain work defined in the Bidding Requirements that may be added to or deducted from the base bid amount if Owner decides to accept a corresponding change either in the amount of construction to be completed or in the products, materials, equipment, systems, or installation methods described in the Contract Documents. a.
