Saving Project...

Site work for a water / sewer project in Ogden, Utah. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

Ogden City’s water supply system has identified large system repairs & replacement to accommodate the aging infrastructure. Large improvements would normally require saving funds over multiple years. Examples would include the replacement of the wellfield line, the 36-inch Canyon Water Line, and the Pineview Well replacement. These projects could qualify for existing federal funding with the current proposed funding sources being offered in WU002. If federal funds were received for these projects, it would help allocate and fund additional water projects with the existing master plan funds. The Well Field Line is critical for Ogden City in delivering water to its daytime population of 120,000 residents. The Well Field Line is a 36-inch concrete lined steel pipe installed in 1970. The portion of the line identified as part of this replacement is the 36”/42” Line to the Reservoir which is approximately 2,300 LF. The 42” Ogden Canyon pipeline from the OC overflow vault to the 23rd St. Reservoirs combines the flow from the 24” and 36” Canyon lines and conveys the water to the 23rd St. Reservoirs. The 24” and 36” pressurized lines combine into the OC Overflow Vault. The OC overflow vault combines the pressurized flow from both the 24” and 36” canyon lines. The 42” outlet pipe is sized to allow the combined flow to flow open channel to the 23rd Street Reservoirs. The vault also serves as an overflow vault for the canyon water lines, if the reservoir is shut off or the 42” line is closed the water backs up and overflows in this vault and discharges into the Ogden River. The 42” 3,800 LF water line is estimated to have been built during the same time frame as the 36” water line and is nearing 90 years old line. The EPA is currently offering funding for Lead Line Replacement including Infrastructure Replacement and Corrosion Control and Optimization, of which our current water system would utilize. The estimated amount of water lines needing to be replaced is approximately $38 million. The funding for the projects is as follows: 1. 42” Overflow to 23rd Street Reservoir - $7,212,000; 2. Ogden Canyon Wells - $20,000,000; 3. Qualifying Lead Lines - $ 38,000,000. The project is included in the city's 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of June 29, 2022, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified.* *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
