Saving Project...

Renovation of a municipal facility in Wilmington, Delaware. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

Amtrak is the nation's intercity passenger rail provider and its only high-speed rail operator. A record 31.3 million passengers traveled on Amtrak in FY 2016 on more than 300 daily trains across a 21,000 mile network that connects 46 states, the District of Columbia, and three Canadian Provinces. Amtrak operates trains in partnership with 19 states and two commuter rail agencies. Amtrak also is a strong financial performer achieving a 94 percent (94%) cost-recovery ratio, one of the highest of any American rail system. Amtrak currently employs nearly 19,000 persons, 17,000 of which are agreement covered employees. Program Scope and Objectives The Wilmington Training Center is a two-story facility comprising 22,940 square feet of administrative office, classroom training, and hands-on simulator training. It is located at 1 High Speed Way, Wilmington, Delaware. On the first floor of the facility there is a Simulator Suite that houses a large, enclosed-cab train simulator, a Computer Room, Control Room, and four smaller Simulator Rooms that each contain two desktop simulators. Adjacent to the four Simulator Rooms is a former Projection Room that once housed the video projection equipment for previous simulator systems that are now outdated. SCOPE OF WORK The Program for this Renovation is to remove the end walls of each Simulator Room, as well as their glazing panels, and extend the four spaces into the former Projection Room. This will require the extension of the existing partitions as well as the installation of a new raised access flooring system to match the existing in size and height. The partitions of the Simulator Rooms will extend from the concrete floor span to the underside of the floor deck above. There will be new and relocated electrical outlets and Cat6 connects for the new simulators. Please note: All Cat6 cabling to be coordinated with and provided by Amtrak's C&S Division. The HVAC for the existing simulator rooms is fed from an existing rigid trunk run with flexible duct extensions. The Projection Room has two diffusers from a singular rigid duct with flexible extensions. This system is to be modified to provide two additional flexible ducts to serve the northern end of the new Simulator Rooms. Exhaust air is pulled through the existing plenum and shall be coordinate with the Simulator Room extensions. The sprinkler heads in the Projection Room are to be modified to serve the Simulator Room extensions with additional sprinkler heads as required. Overhead lighting for the Simulator Rooms is shown on the Electrical Drawings. The acoustic ceiling tile (ACT) grid in the existing Simulator Rooms shall be extended into the new area of the extended rooms. Coordinate the HVAC supply, returns and sprinkler heads. Provide electrical outlets and plywood backing behind the proposed video monitors and coordinate with C&S and Amtrak IT for their installation of video monitors Cap the existing pipe that extends beneath Room 130 into Room 131, cover and patch with drywall and paint. Add Alternate 1: Provide pricing for an Add Alternate to remove the stair and landing in Simulator Room 131 and replace them with an modular metal landing with stairs and an ADA conforming ramp as shown in Add Alternate Sketches. The guard and handrail systems shall conform to ADA and IBC code requirements for guards and handrails. The stair, ramp, and landing surfaces shall be covered in carpeting to match Simulator Suite carpeting. Add Alternate 2: Provide pricing for electrical and carpeting modifications as follows: 1. Remove the two (2) floor mounted electrical raceways in Room 204. Provide two (2) electrical "poke-through" flush floor outlets and repair carpeting to match existing. Locations to match existing. 2. Remove three floor mounted electrical raceways in Room 125. Provide three (3) low-profile floor mounted electrical outlets. Locations to be determined in the field. No more than 60 Days from Notice to Proceed
