For contracts with a value exceeding five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000), the Contractor shall deliver to the Owner or its designated representative, a Standard Performance Bond and a Standard Labor and Material Payment Bond, forms for which are enclosed in the Contract Documents, each fully executed by the Contractor and one or more surety companies legally licensed to do business in Virginia and each in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the accepted bid. If more than one Surety executes a bond, each shall be jointly and severally liable to the Owner for the entire amount of the bond. Sureties shall be selected by the Contractor, subject to approval by the Owner. No payment on the Contract shall be due and payable to the Contractor until the bonds have been approved by the Owner and the City Attorney for City, Virginia.
