Site work for a mixed-use development in Lenoir, North Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
As of August 10, 2022, project was awarded to RES Environmental Operating Company, LLC, awarded amount is $127,200.72. The gully is to be restored with natural channel design of approximately 150 linear ft. and the exposed 4 in. PVC sewer line is to be buried under an armored berm. The contractor will be responsible for all excavation and aggregate hauling associated with the project. Two silt fences, a sedimentation basin, and a construction entrance will be installed, and repaired as necessary, by the contractor before excavation begins. Soil fill will be placed in 8 to 12 in. lifts and compacted to a minimum of 85% STP. Every other lift will be tested by a licensed geotechnical engineer and shall identify berm materials, reference maximum density, and optimum moisture content at the time of compaction. Grade control structures (cascades, steps, and riffles) will be lined with 0.25 ft. gravel bedding (#57 stone) atop a non-woven geotextile. Efforts will be taken by the contractor to properly anchor the geotextile into trenches. Boulders will be double layered and placed according to detail. Footer and tie out boulders will be properly buried into the soil. At final grade, the contractor will place and till excess organic cut as topsoil in a minimum of 1 in. thickness. Erosion control matting will be pinned and staked in place with wooden pegs on berms and pool banks and live stakes in pool banks only. Effort shall be made for the existing native trees and vegetation that do not conflict with grading be kept and protected. The boulder and cobble grade control structures will sit atop not only a 0.25 ft. layer of #57 stone but also a 4 ft. wide by 3.5 ft. deep filter media (ASTM C33 Sand) channel. The depth of filter media in the channel will vary from 1 ft. below berms to 2.5 ft. below pools. Soil lined with a non-woven geotextile will be placed above the 1 ft. deep sand to form berms. An additional 1.5 ft. of sand will be placed in the pools between berms. A 0.25 ft. gravel layer will be placed on top of the sand in the pools and on the geotextile lined soil berms. Cobbles will be placed on top of the gravel on the upstream facing berm surface, otherwise known as the glide. Boulders will be placed on top of the gravel on the steeper downstream facing berm surfaces, known as cascades, and cobbles will be placed on top of the flatter downstream facing berm surfaces, known as riffles. Questions concerning the RFP requirements must be submitted in writing via email to kgshelto@ncsu.edu, Subject Line: RFP #63-KGS862737 - Questions, no later than 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Questions will be answered in the form of an addendum to this RFP In case of default by the Contractor, the University may procure the services from other sources and hold the Contractor responsible for any excess cost occasioned thereby.
