The Plymouth Public School Committee is seeking to replace the roof of the Nathaniel Morton Elementary School. The building was originally built in 1913 with subsequent additions. The total square footage of the roof is approximately 35,000 square feet. The roofs on this building consists of three lowslope roof sections and multiple steep-sloped asphalt shingle roof sections. The existing roof is approximately 20 years old and is beyond its life expectancy. Significant leaking has occurred in areas over the past several years. Portions of the roof were damaged during the October 2021 storm and have been repaired but will still need to be replaced. Each general bid must be accompanied by a bid deposit in the amount of 5% of the total amount of the bid, including any alternates. Such deposit shall be in the form of a certified, treasurer's or cashier's check made payable to the Town of Plymouth, or a bid bond in a form satisfactory to the Town of Plymouth with a surety company qualified to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, with such bond conditioned upon faithful performance by the principal of the agreements contained in the bid. Return of bid deposits will be in accordance with the provisions of the applicable General Laws. PPS reserves the right to reject all bids, to waive technicalities, to advertise for new bids and to split awards as may be deemed in the best interests of the Town. The contract(s) will be awarded by the Town within thirty (30) business days after opening the bids. The School reserves the right to require samples of materials for inspection and testing.
