The Department of Environmental Conservation and the Office of Environmental Justice are pleased to announce approximately $1,000,000 is available for Community Air Monitoring Capacity Building Grants. Funding for this grant opportunity is provided from the state Environmental Protection Fund with dollars designated to Environmental Justice. Applicants may be awarded up to $100,000 each until funding has been exhausted. The minimum grant award is $50,000 with the maximum being $100,000. Funding will be utilized to fund as many eligible projects as possible which may include partial funding of projects. All projects must have defined objectives, tasks, and deliverables accounted for in performance measures that can be completed and invoiced within a 36- month contract period/term and will have a contract term of January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2025. The purpose of this grant opportunity is to improve competencies and skills that can make environmental justice focused community-based organizations more effective and sustainable in monitoring air quality and public health in their communities as well as educating and engaging their communities. Community Air Monitoring Capacity Building Grants will provide community-based, not for profit organizations in disadvantaged communities with funding to engage their communities and secure technical assistance to stay informed on the statewide effort or support community driven efforts to improve local air quality that are in line with the goals of the Climate Act.
