Site work for a mixed-use development in Canwood, Saskatchewan. Conceptual plans call for site work for a municipal facility; road / highway; and water / sewer project.
Construction of a new municipal landfill waste cell for the expansion of the existing landfill within the current bounds of the property. The work will include topsoil Stripping the proposed landfill and leachate pond surface across the entire site and then constructing the new cell and leachate ponds to meet regulatory requirements. The new cell will be constructed of a 1 m compacted clay liner with a minimum hydraulic conductivity of 1.0 E-09 m/s. Suitable clay material is present on land to the east of the existing landfill and is to be excavated and used to construct the liner as part of this contract. Required infrastructure including landfill leachate pipes, leachate collection system and leachate storage pond are to be included in the construction. A new access road to the landfill from the exiting landfill is to be constructed. TIMELINE: Tender from general contractors issued in mid-2022 was subsequently cancelled by the owner. Project has been shelved by the owner at this time; timelines for re-tender and construction undetermined. Updates may be published in the future pending owner's decision to proceed. Coverage of this report is discontinued at this time.
