Bid Security in the amount of 5% of the total bid amount (in the form of a bid bond or cashier's check) is required for bids totaling $175,000 or more. Electronically submitted bids require a copy of the bid security to accompany submission. The Mississippi Creative Arts Elementary School is a two-phase project mechanical improvement project. Existing classroom unit ventilators will be removed and replaced with an overhead dedicated outdoor air system. The existing building structure will be reinforced to support the proposed mechanical rooftop equipment. Ventilation will be distributed through duct mains installed above corridor ceilings. New lighting will be installed at the new ceiling locations and tied into the existing control system. The ventilation will be provided overhead in the classroom spaces. The classroom ceilings will be removed, salvaged, and reinstalled as indicated on the plans to allow for duct installation. Ceilings in corridors are anticipated to be replaced throughout as indicated on the plans. The building currently has a steam boiler and two steam to hot water heat exchangers. All existing steam fed equipment will be removed and replaced with hot water heating elements. To support this, a new condensing boiler system will be implemented, and distribution piping installed throughout. Finned tube radiation has been designed to meet the heating demand of the building the spaces in which it is served. Architectural revisions to casework have been specified to support the mechanical design and meet the building requirements. Variable air volume boxes with reheat coils are included in the design for space control and heating redundancy. At the end of the project, all steam and pneumatic equipment will be replaced by hot water and DDC systems. The building electrical service is designed to replace the existing service. All new equipment will be fed from the new 480/3 phase system. Existing 240 V equipment will be connected to a new 208V transformer. The Owner anticipates Award of the Contracts by the Board of Education on August 23, 2022. Following Award the Owners Purchasing Agent will distribute contracts for execution prior to construction start.
