The New York State Department of Transportation, is assisting HNTB New York Engineering and Architecture PC (HNTB), in the selection and retention of a Subcontractors, to provide Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC) and various access equipment for the Inspection of Retaining Walls in Kings, Richmond and New York Counties in NYSDOT The selected WZTC Subcontractor(s) will be required to provide all labor, materials, machinery, tools, and equipment for the Work Zone Traffic Control for the retaining wall inspections located throughout Kings, Richmond and New York Counties in New York City in the State of New York. The required traffic control will assist HNTB and New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) personnel, or their authorized designee, with the inspection of 121 walls. WZTC shall be performed as described and in accordance with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the NYS Supplement, the NYSDOT Work Zone Traffic Control Manual, NYS Standard Specifications 619, 729 and 730, as appropriate, Engineering Directives (ED), Engineering Instructions (EI), Engineering Bulletins (EB), NYSDOT 619 WZTC Standard Sheets, NYSDOT Safety Manual, NYSDOT Safety Bulletins, and Traffic Safety & Mobility Instructions Required Experience: As the safety of human lives is at risk, the Subcontractor shall have had a minimum of five (5) years documented experience in the performance of traffic control. Additionally, all flag persons shall have had a minimum of six (6) months of documented experience in traffic control. All Subcontractors' personnel assigned to this work shall have current flagger certification necessary to perform the work, must be able to communicate in a clear and effective manner and be familiar with the MUTCD et al as listed above. The project duration is from the beginning of the Contract (anticipated in September 2022) until May 31, 2023 (9 months). The number of workdays required per crew to provide Work Zone Traffic Control per week will vary from zero to five (0 to 5) days. As many as three (3) separate work crews with all necessary equipment and materials may be required to work simultaneously at any time during the Contract. Also, full and partial day and nighttime closures will be required to complete the work. Should the selected low bidder be unavailable for the assignment within the work area, HNTB and NYSDOT reserves the right to request and assign the required work to the next lowest bidder. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
