San Bernardino is a full-service city and encompasses an area of 62.24 miles with the population of approximately 218,500. The City is located at the convergence of the 1-10, SR-210 and 1-215 highways. The southbound 1-215 connects to SR-91 leading to Orange County, with northbound connecting to I-15, which passes through several states leading to the Canadian border. Centrally located in Southern California, San Bernardino has been at the center of the Southland goods movement since 1875, when the Southern Pacific and Santa Fe Railroads reached the City. Today, the City is home to the BNSF Intermodal Facility and San Bernardino International Airport. The City of San Bernardino is soliciting the services of a qualified firm to provide the City of San Bernardino with a design plan for an existing skate park. The proposed skate park renovation is an all wheel, concrete skate spot will provide a safe, designated place for users to develop their skills and enjoy the company of their peers. It will be a state-of-the-art facility based on the latest skate park design principles and constructed with high-quality materials to ensure durability and longevity. The design should feature a mix of street and transition- style terrain, with elements designed for all age groups and ability levels. The design should meet the ultimate needs of the community while incorporating Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (OPTED) principles, including landscaping and lighting. In addition, the City is encouraging the repurposing of concrete slab that has been damaged from prior fires in the design phases. Other amenities to be considered in the design include shade and seating. A formal entry with ADA accessibility is requested. Consultant must provide comprehensive professional services including schematic design, design development, engineered construction documents, and specifications for a permanent concrete skatepark at East Side Skate Park that are bid ready. The scope of work represents the Citys best estimate of the work needed to accomplish the objectives for this project. The City is open to alternative approaches that may deviate from this scope to better meet project objectives.
